Herve Couturier (hkcouturier@yahoo.com) has 38 years of reporting, editing and bureau management experience with Agence France-Presse (AFP), a major international news agency. He has been a a correspondent at the United Nations in New York for six years, covering major international diplomatic events as well as the UN's role in various transnational issues; a deputy regional director for Europe and Africa for five years; and a bureau chief in Ankara for four and a half years covering Turkey and Northern Cyprus. In addition, he has worked in Bangkok, Paris, Tokyo and Washington.

Couturier speaks French and English and has a bachelor's degree in economic sciences from the University of Bordeaux. He lives in New York.
